Definitely DONT take the first offer! Nor the second, keep arguing until you get all you can.

Is it definitely a write off? could it be repaired? If it could and you would like to keep ask about buying it back off them.

there is no definate answer to how long im afraid, could be a couple of weeks, could be months, so many factors eg how quick the third party fills in forms etc

As Len said, i would never take the first offer. If you have not got an agreed value then i would get examples of what similar vehicles to yours are selling for within the scene/enthusiast prices and send them back when you reject the offer as the insurer is likly to only offer their idea of "book" price which can be shocking.

Only down side though is that means it will take even longer!

best of luck!

yeah, it was my Neighbours car and he was working on it and the handbreak came off and rolled in to the back arch(shared driveway) and hes told them its all his fault.
And ive took it to the dent Garage to be assesed and its come back to much to fix for the price of the car.
hopefully i get around the £2000 price, and some comp for drive in .

ps: when does it go on the log book ,that its a write off ,because iam still driving it.

On the other side when my Rover 25 got wrote off they gave me £4700 for it and book price was only £4200 and that was first offer, I couldn't argue either as I needed a new car ASAP so when they offered that much I bit their arm off, just push to get a reasonable price.
