Cruise control retro fit
« on: 12 July 2022, 11:27 »
Hi

I have a 2010 mk6 and am wanting cruise control fitting, back in 2007 when I bought my first mk5 from the main dealers they fitted it for around £150 as a retro fit, apparently just needed a new stalk and programming.
Is it the same situation with the mk6?

Not sure main dealers will care for that sort of stuff anymore but others will eg:

Hi Mileymk6, my main dealer retrofitted Cruise Control on my current 2009 Mk6.  A new stalk and some coding as far as I'm aware.  Was a while ago though in 2018.  The main dealer was Parkway Volkswagen if that helps; not sure if you're in the UK?

As jv says depends on the appetite from garages to do it, but worth an ask.

Depends when in 2010 the car was built. Early had the same double stalks as the mk5 sonthe same procedure. Later they changed to the all in one which is alot more expensive to retrofit cruise too.

only £60 more for the later one peace stalks over the two peace ones that has reduced alot over the years use to be hundreds more.

Quite a few retrofit companys about doing VWs now so a quick Google search if this ones nit near enough for the original poster.

From memory, the early stalks would stay clicked forwards when you turn on main beam. From 2010MY onwards, when the stalk is pushed forwards, it springs back to the central position.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

If your car is a 2010 build then you only require the single stalk. Have had to replace mine recently because it developed a fault. It was a factory fitted option. Quite cheap for an aftermarket one - about £27. Not sure if you need to replace the control module under the steering column. Needs coding in. If you have VCDS then the long coding helper sorts this out. To check if you need a different control module try coding cc using vcds or obd11. It will not let you do it if incorrect module. I can check what module number I have if that helps. Think it is the highline one.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.
