I also left in with a range of 5 miles on the dash hehe pretty much on the very last red line. Never dragged it so low in its life too.

Thrifty to the end   Hope the mpg in the R doesn't come as too much of a shock

Well, not sure what a shock is compared to the mk6 Ed 35. 25mpg? 70mph seemed to be heading towards the 35mpg range, but needs a good distance probably to get there. Will be interesting to see what the 5 miles commute to work returns, had it up to 50mpg in the GTD, expect really 20mpg in the R.

Actually I meant a shock to you as a former GTD driver.

Dunno about compared to the ed35, mine's just a normal GTI.  I get 27/28 mpg average with lots of stop start town driving/rural road/dual carriageway.  Get into early to mid 30s on motorway.  If I get an overall average 24/25 in R that'll do.

I don't really mind as I am not doing 56 miles a day to work, its now 50 a week. Oh I looked at yours and assumed edition 35 as the Glendale's were fitted. Its ok, I got 52mpg on its final journey as the range counted down fairly fast, I slow to 60 on the motorway as I wanted it to make it to the dealer parking lot. Filled the R up with shell 98 as it was the closest to the dealer, I did note that Super Unleaded is cheaper than diesel so I am saving money really!!? :undecided:

Yeah, I always use Shell V Power Nitro+ where possible anyway and I think the recommended for the R is 98 Ron.  You don't buy an R for economical mpg, so just enjoy

What's the thing on the front bumper below the GTI badge?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
