Manifold gasket problem
« on: 23 April 2016, 19:09 »
Hi all,
Not posted for a while but I'm in need of help. Recently had a stage 2 map to my ko4 turbo etc and I'm fining that I'm going through manifold to turbo gaskets a lot (3rd already) what could this be?
I have thought about a high flow manifold but had thought could possibly be the actuator as this was turned a couple of turns before the map.
It's a 1.8t Abu mk4.
Thanks in advance
Dan

are the manifold and turbo mating faces perfectly clean and flat? if so then maybe you need a stronger gasket.

They should be but will double check. I have been looking for stronger gaskets but have had no joy.
Any ideas?

Are the gaskets vw ones? Might not make a difference but my mums s3 has just blown the gasket after turbo replacement bit before on a gen gasket was fine. Also her previous turbo had the actuator wound out a couple of turns

I can do, thing is got a new gasket but the thread in the turbo is now flecked. It's been on another one of my cars before so think I've damaged it. Looking like I've got to get another turbo so thinking bigger and better so would need a new manifold.
