Turbo issue
« on: 02 November 2019, 19:38 »
Hi,

So when driving today I went through a deep puddle (might just be a coincidence) and the coil light started flashing and I lost all turbo. The car drives fine, its just got no turbo, revs normally so not in limp mode. When you start the car it takes about 30-45 seconds for the coil light to come on (whether driving or idling) and for that time the turbo works fine, no smoking or anything. Did a fault scan when I got home

Before clearing the codes it also had code 9127 Actuator for Turbocharger 1 P00AF 00 [237] - Stuck

I have looked on Ross Tech for 9127 and 7934 but they do not show anything. Any ideas? is it time for a new turbo?

actuators are common for failing on those, you can test it with a vac pump. if its gone you can get a repair kit for around £180, far cheaper than a whole turbo

My first thought is a position sensor problem. The implausible signal usually indicates either a sensor fault or fault with the item a sensor is monitoring. The turbocharger actuator has electronic sensors that monitor turbo vane position which controls the amount of turbo boost. Possible issues include that the electronic actuator boost sensor is defective, turbo vanes stuck or in the wrong position. Soot build up (rather like the intake manifold flaps on the GTI that I had) can affect the vane position and lead to the error signal to the ECM. Worst case is the turbo has failed but that is usually accompanied by smoke on acceleration.
