I don't suppose anyone knows the whereabouts of Mk1 GTI - KGM 817W? It was a mars red 1600 that I traded in to a garage in Newcastle in the late 90s. The car had been messed around with a lot having a single wiper conversion, scorpion exhaust, bonnet pins plus some other mods. The car was rough and at some point somebody had fitted copper piping instead of rubber hoses at points around the engine and a fuel pump operated via a switch on the dash..
It has apparently not been taxed for years, but a HPI check indicates that it has not been written off, exported or scrapped.
Long shot but hoping it may be a resto project in somebodies garage..
