Golf mk7 / Re: GTI PP Front brake calliper paint

Where it says "GTI" is just a plate which presses into the caliper.

Part number 5G0698221.

thanks for this info

for some reason the lettering is fading on mine. Not sure if a previous owner has been over enthusiastic with cleaning products or something else caused it,

You can get replacement decals from places like EZMods for a few £ ea I replaced them on my R calipers

What was it they use to say about the GTI?
“The best all rounder you can buy” 😏

Congrats on your imminent retirement Watts!
Keep the TCR as there’s literally nothing significantly better out there at almost any price.
Spend your millions on some pottery instead.

Cheers! I never spend money on pottery

Ideally I'd keep the TCR and get a toy too but circumstances don't currently support that. No millions here though, only a low grade (un)civil servant...

What could you replace the TCR with Watts?
I am in a similar position and keep the CS as the sensible car. It's a good excuse to buy that historic classic (no tax, mot or ulez) to run alongside your reliable Golf.
When your London travel pass arrives, that should cut down on local miles put on the Golf too.

I'd like a small cheeky convertible but as above, I can't keep both and a small cheeky convertible won't fit a lot of my driving needs. It will be a fair few years before I qualify for free travel but I hate going on buses, you have to sit next to people like me

Amazing!!

It’s been a long time coming. No major niggles which is nice considering the amount of time it’s been off the road

Had a puncture repaired. Was in Norfolk visiting family, left and got about 1/2 mile when the low pressure warning pinged on. Very impressed with the chaps at Kwikfit Kings Lynn. 30 mins and all sorted. They checked all four tyres plus reset the computer. When I went to get in the car though the fob battery had given up, luckily I keep spares in the car.

I'm retiring soon and fancy something different but everytime I go out in the TCR I keep thinking I'd be mad to get rid. So many positives with the only negative the gearbox and most of the time it's very good.

@Exonian I don’t know what you mean

I’ve always quite liked them, and like you said they’re reliable as all hell. Boxy means they’re great for carrying stuff (can’t fit my handbike in a golf, fits in a yeti no bother), and unlike a caddy or a transporter, it has missus approval factor too. I just wish I’d never sold my old landy. Had a diesel defender that I only sold to fund a Legacy import a few years back. Not that I could drive it any more, but it’d more than pay for a Yeti now..

Maybe some dodgy man maths at play there Doc as it’d take a lot of fuel to equate to the cost of a Yeti 😁 but I get your thinking, sometimes it’s nice to have a contrast of vehicles to use.
I do love the Yeti, good looking in a Dinky Toy sort of way and tough as a Tonka! (Showing my age there!)
