Title: MK 7.5 MOT Advisories.
Post by: GTi Andy on 03 August 2022, 20:09
Had my 2017 GTi PP Serviced and MOTd the other day and a few advisories were issued.

• Brake pad(s) wearing thin Front (front brake pads on 4mm) [1.1.13 (a) (ii)]
• Brake pad(s) wearing thin Rear (rear pads on 4mm) [1.1.13 (a) (ii)]
• Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement Nearside Rear Outer (outer bush starting to split) [5.3.4 (a) (i)]
• Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement Offside Rear Outer (outer bush starting to split) [5.3.4 (a) (i)]

• Nearside Front Lower (driveshaft starting to corrode)

Does anyone know which bushes or pins it’s referring to? I’m assuming it’s the rear suspension or is it the rear of the front wishbones? I’d like to inspect it my self but I’m unsure where to look with the info I have.

I would imagine it’s the rubber bush on each side of the rear suspension where the rear hub is mounted, number 3 in the pic below

Sorry JB, but that diagram is for a Golf with a rear beam axle, a GTI has independent rear suspension.

I would take a look at bushes 17 and 14 for starters.
