Title: Plastic particles in my MK5 GTi sump
Post by: skodaman on 27 October 2021, 21:51
Hi Guys,
Got a potential problem with my standard 2007 Gti (128k). I recently had the EML come on . 2 fault codes came up 01089 and P0441. I did some checks and the initial thoughts were to drop the sump, clean it and also clean out the oil pick up pipe. Did that. The pick up filter was fairly clogged up with carbon and also about 8 small pieces of browny orange plastic. These look like they combine to make a small spindle c 6mm in diameter with a  centrally placed hole. Any ideas where this has come from? And what i need to do to rectify ? Thanks..look forward to replies

Sounds like the tip of the dip stick, over time/heat this degrades and breaks up - upgrade to the newer yellow type, good to replace the tube too - as this also degrades
