my mk4 build thread new pics page 11
« on: 22 March 2010, 22:00 »
well after owning my mk4 for 2.5 years and wanting to get it painted ever since i have finally bit the bullet and got it into the paintshop (she went in 3 weeks ago)
i'm not going to post the colour i have chosen just yet
to start with this is how she looked before she went in

i bought a brand new replica R32 front bumper f

i then bought a rear R32 bumper and proceeded to modify it
i did not want the exhaust cut outs so glassed up the holes and filled and smoothed them over

so with those fitted i dropped it off to fulford motorsport in colchester
and this is how it currently looks
fitted a new rear door as mine had been dented since i bought it

there was a bit of a gap around the arear of where the bumper met the wing so i filled them all in and sanded them back so it sits nice and tight to the body

i then stripped all the rubbers, glass and handles off

i also noticed that the bumper was a bit too narrow by about 5mm either side under the tailights so the body shop have masked up and filled it out to make the bumper line up with the lights correctly

now all the doors and bonnet are off and in the booth ready for paint

i have also bought a heated leather interior and bora vents to go in
whilst its in the paintshop i have started on the retrim inside got 3 of the doorcard inserts done so far

thats it for now i will post more pics when i pic the car up on saturday
all comments appreciated and welcomed

Fantastic stuff mate.

I hope that filler doesnt crack where you've built out the bumper edges though..
