problems problems and more problems!!!
« on: 17 May 2009, 11:41 »
few days ago i left mt AGU 1.8t sitting for about 3 days.. as had no need to drive!... and when i went to start it the whole engine and car was shaking really badly for about a minute..when the temp went up it all stoped... and few days after that it never happened at all ... the car pulls fine runs fine no smoke no nothing it was like a one off shake! lol

now after about a 4 days the temp gauge has creeped to 100 and slowly very very slowly was dropin back to 90.. what could be causing this and i recenlty had it fully serviced by kwik fit and put in a induction kit the same day when i got home.. and car ran fine iwth it for about week until the bloody shake and now dis!

could the induction kit be given me probs?? or is it the MAF?? as i havnt touched the MAF pipe or sensor at all..

heres pic the induction anyone see anything wrong?? :undecided:

the car was still running and pulling fine even when the temp creeped to 100.. its never ever gone over 90.. dont know what it could be?? any one else had this sort problem??

Water pump is knackered. Maybe the 'jumpiness' was the impellor detaching itself from mother pumpy.

The impellor, or impeller (can't remember how it's spelt until my brain recieves alcohol free blood, a few hours should see that happen) is bacially what I could describe as the 'paddles' attached to spindle of the pump that actually 'swishes' the water around the system.

Not sure how much the job costs, but it appears to be a common fault with these golfs that have the plastic impeller. I'm waiting for mine to be done actually, so you're not alone.

We need a waterpump support group as there have been so many cases of pump failure. It's a traumatic time for Golfs.

Not necessarily. With impeller issues, you can sit at idle at the temp can sit at 90, drive it and it can go full scale deflection, then cool down again as the engine idles.

I wouldn't drive it, you'll risk damaging the engine by overheating.

I thought Golfs were reliable too, this one is my 2nd Golf, both were trouble

Mine has been off the road all last week and is set to be off the road until June.
