I did tell my mates its the most likely cause of the crash! I did think, as I was hanging out the window onto a load of nettles (car landed on side, Tom you b*****d you were right AGAIN! :D

That's the thing - you're never going to be aware of the problem until you really stamp on the middle pedal in an emergency situation.

Lesson learned; it's only tin and rubber.  Do check all your engine mounts etc for cracks and damage.  Things react in funny ways to being thrown about as yours has.

I previously questioned the brake bias setup....  :undecided:

Let this be a lesson to others on here that most likely have the same issue and they address it sooner rather than later.

If you lower your car you are automatically screwing with your brake balance and this should be addressed at the same time without fail.

I don't think there was ever a bias valve/compensator in this car.

What has to be done to adjust the brake balance? And how much lowering are we talking about before it has an effect?

Wants a thread in the main VW chat.  If you search on 'bias' I suspect there's quite a few posts from the likes of me going on about how important it is.

I was amazed at just how far down I had to wind the bias on my Golf after I took out the auto-compensator.
