DSG gear knob

I need to replace my gear knob, as the chrome finish is peeling one side, not quite visable



I can only find aftermarket ones which are not correct:

I called the stealer and they only sell the complete shifter for £400!

anyone know the correct part number or of a source?

Looks as if with the genuine VW part, the gear shifter is integrated with the gaiter and centre console trim panel and isn’t a separate part - see link below which also includes the part number, although the one at the link isn’t specific to the GTI as the stitching on the gaiter is light grey rather than red. Still expensive at £200, although that’s half the price you’ve been quoted by the dealer.

Edit; If you search on the part number you might find a new one cheaper, or a decent used on on eBay or similar sites. Alternatively, you could try a car breakers.

I got bored looking, couldn’t find anything decent, mostly old knackered ones.

so I found the same non OEM one that I posted above on eBay, that was out of stock anyway, but for
Sale on Ali express for a bargain £12, if it’s crap, it doesn’t matter, but looks ok.

£12 from Ali Express and you would be hard pressed to distinguish it from OEM, apart from font is lightly different for the DSG text, the match of the finish to the gear sector button is spot on!
