Definitely the race tyres are great but as the weather gets worse you can definitely feel it, and with the price of them (300 euro a corner special order with local tyre company) I feel like the swap for  the Michelin sport 4 for the winter would be good alternative and swap back ok the race tyres come May as weather improves.
Over all car is great I have to admit it really does feel special and the grip is outstanding. I feel bad for using it as a daily in an ideal world it's nearly too good for that and a second motor to daily would be great.

Very nice!
I do pretty low mileage in the GTI, as we tend to use my wife's car for most of the daily duties.

Make sure you get someone competent to swap the tyres off. Last thing you want it a marked wheel.

True Joe, I've try to see another edition 50 here in Cork as of yet. Best of luck with it anyway. I've 2k up on mine, going to swap out the potenza race at the weekend.

How are you finding the car overall? Any niggles? Are you finding that the race tyres are a bit "sub optimal" as the autumn/winter kicks in?

That's a great deal Joe and you'll have the January reg. Did you question the false advertising regarding the Edition 50 in Ireland ie the exclusive colours of tornado red and Dark Moss Green which are now being offered in any kind of variant Ive questioned the matter with Vw but total radio silence.

I did not no! I'm not one bit bothered about that. Nor does it surprise me, VW long have form for it (lapiz blue is everywhere now).

An Edition 50 will still be a very rare car here, irrespective of colour and anyone who knows will know... Its rare that I even spot another standard GTI / CS / R on the road here.

I ordered an Ed 50 back in mid-March, expecting a July delivery and July has come and long gone!

I've come very close to cancelling it, but I just let it lie and "forgot about it" for the past few months. The dealer has confirmed its slotted for a week 44 build now (end of October). Here in Ireland, that's getting much too late in the year to register a new car (the new reg starts in January here).

He gave me the option to cancel with a full deposit refund, but we've eventually come to an agreement that I can have the car in January at the trade-in deal we agreed upon last March, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Silly thing but have you checked the sensor? Dirt or cobwebs can have more of an impact than you might think. I've only had this a couple of times in four years of ownership one was when I was close to a parked car descending a hill, gave me a hell of a shock and another time it saved my ass when I wasn't paying attention.

I think my car has it in for me…

For no reason at all, it keeps applying the front collision detection automatic braking… there is nothing in front of me and it brakes harshly. I’ve nearly had a couple of folk into the back of me.

It’s booked in to the dealership for a diagnostic check, anyone else had this?

My 7.5 never used to false alarm on this, it’s really rather disconcerting!

Answering my own question. From feedback elsewhere these can be a bit flakey. Full MIB2 is the way to go.
