Are front xenons really that expensive?

Was checking flea-bay today and just thought I see about front xenons as fitted to edition 35

£1200 to buy - as good as they look they ain't worth that price. I have crappy oem bulbs/lights worth upgrading bulbs instead as cheaper option?
