Alpine CDE-9881R :afro:

....it lights up green to match the interior! ;)

All hooked up & working, iPod doesn't seem to charge & as said doesn't turn off so I'll email Alpine.

Just the speakers to sort now but sounds a ton better than my old 4x45 Xplode! :D

In short, YES! Sounds brilliant, can't wait to get better speakers. Not sure what it does differently to yours, to be honest the only reason I went for this one was I found it cheap! ;)

Yea, 4th gen nano, I've emailed alpine so hopefully they'll sort it out for me. :D

I want one of these but before I go ahead how can I be 100% sure my 4GB Nano is fully compatible?

No it's not, it'll only play, it won't charge or stop when you turn the engine off / HU off.

It's not the HUs fault, it's Apples fault, they've done something to the dock connector at the bottom and removed some pins which the Alpine, and most other HUs use to charge it up.

It's not pointless, Alpine are working on a lead that can charge the new 4th gen nano, it's Apple's fault, because it does mean almost all stuff that works with an iPod dock connector won't work properly unless it's made specifically for the 4th gen nano. Your nano will still play, just won't charge, so it's life will be just like what would use it like if you used it walking around.

Literally all other iPod works like they are meant too.

I had my mates 30GB video on it tonight, I've had an iPod Touch on it, and a 1st and 2nd gen nano, also the latest 120GB Classic works as that's what I'm using on it now.

Might be worth holding fire though until they issue a new lead.
