Fuel Economy for MK2 GTI 16V

Hello all

First post just looking at mk2 16V GTI`s just wondering what you all get out of a tank of fuel, how mych us it to fill the tank?
at the moment i own a MR2 Turbo and the fuel economy is killing me  :( so im looking at golfs  :D

any help appreicated

It all depends on how you drive. I get about 33mpg out of my 16v (more if i take it easy) but on the other hand it can be as low as 27mpg if i boot it.
I put 25 quid a week in the tank (thats about 3 quaters full) and can do about 220-250 miles on that.

Thanks for the info, im getting about 62 miles to ?10 off boost at the moment so thats better allready lol

is it ?40 to fill up? what would you get for a whole tank say half motorway driving half around town? I know its hard to say but a ruff guess  :D

I can regularly average 42mpg on my way to work (roads with a 50 limit) but I have hit 45 once, not through choice I might add.  It's more like 33-35 including some town driving.  It did go down to mid 20s in stop-start traffic over a couple of miles.  I've heard there's not much difference between a 16v, an 8v and a non GTI 1.8.  Lets face it though, most cars will have much better economy than a 2 litre turbo.
