Best Rubber for GTD 170

Hey, i'm looking to purchase some new boots for my GTD. It has Conti Sport 2 all round which may have been the stock tyres (only done 19k) but they will need replacing soon.

What would you recommend for good dry and wet weather handling / braking and would not also break the bank?

Well my standard tyres are Bridgestone Potenza RE050 and I've read many reports the people say these are noisy but I don't find them noisy. I've just bought 2  Bridgestone Potenza RE050A - £100 fitted for the front. I had a puncture but they said it wasn't worth repairing with 3mm on, the MOT was comming up so I had 2 tyres fitted at 18.5k they would have done 20k.

I searched around to tyres and I was thinking about:

Michelin PRIMACY 3 225/45 R17 91W with rim protection ridge (FSL) - £105 - Roll resistance: C, Wet grip: A, Noise emissions: 69 dB.

As they are better in the wet and are supposed to be quieter.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 91 W - £100 - Roll resistance: F, Wet grip: B, Noise emissions: 73 dB.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 225/45 R17 91Y - £92.30 - Roll resistance: E, Wet grip: A, Noise emissions: 69 dB.

I've heard plenty of reports that Dunlop tyres are noisy.

Agree with Keith on the RE050A's, run them on both my MK5 Golf GT Sport diesel and also my Leon FR diesel and love them as a good all rounder.

Get 18-20k out a set of fronts and around 36-38k out the rears before the dreaded sawtooth sets in.

They have a stiffer side wall than the GY F1's which gives a handling feel I personally like, and I don't find the, particularly noisy and spend hours at a time on the motorway.

Tyres are quite a personal thing though so what I may like will be different to many others.

Are the RE050A's Run flats as these tend to firm up the ride and with the state of British roads can become increasingly uncomfortable.

I like the sound of the Eagle F1, as they seem better in the wet. Will it make much difference to the tyre selection based on rim size? I'm running 18" on 225/40's

Any recommendations where to buy or is it a case of phoning around to get the best deal... any forum members who have some contacts would be greatly appreciated.

No RE050A's aren't run flats.

For 18inchers your pay around £120 a corner for the F1's...if I remember correctly I paid £460 fitted which is £115 a corner and that was from my old Suzuki dealer...

There's plenty of companies that will probably do you a better deal if buying 4...

Ah first mention i've seen on Pilot Sport 3's.... Had them on my Clio 182 and they were great, wasn't sure how they would be on the GTD though?
