Lots of people are experiencing low mpg on the 1.6 TDI as you have to murder it to get anywhere.

What kind of driving are you doing?

If I drive "fast" I'll see around 45-50mpg.

If I take it easy I can be around 70mpg from my gtd but that's driving like a saint around 58mph and I do a lot of motorway mileage.

Well I do drive with a heavy foot, like putting my foot down. on the motorway i see 60mpg straight away and thats driving around 15 miles on it I've not done a long journey in it yet, but local I'm getting around 500 to a tank. Your gtd is really good on diesel getting better figures them me. Well this is the first time ive got 500 because ie only done 850 so far, will my MPG get better?

http://www.spritmonitor.de/en lists 20 DSG 1.6 diesels with a range of fuel consumption between 47 and 58, with an average of 52.6mpg

It also lists 25 DSG GTD's with a range between 27 and 52, with an average of 38.7mpg.

Just the facts ma'am...

I'd drive with a lighter foot and see how you get on.

Indeed, I think most GTD drivers kick the life of them from dusk until dawn

There are a few other GTD drivers on here that get more mpg than I do on a regular basis, most don't

http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/ and use the search function. If you're concerned about 1.6 diesels different to yours in the results, limit it to, say, 2010-2012 models.

Basically, all the manufacturers figures are BS.

oh, and I think you'll need to register on the site if you want MPG not l/100km

Welcome to the forum.

Hi ive just brought a new golf tdi 1.6 105 bhp 7spd dsg, im currentely getting around 42.5MPG thats all local driving not moterway,

Well that seems low for a 1.6 TDI even for local running thats the same mpg as mine.

I see other 1.6 TDI owners on other forums getting 53-60mpg.

bit Jekyll and Hyde my motoring on a GTD manual..

I did have one salesman say to me that I would likely see "better economy from the 170 unit than raggin' the nuts off a blue motion model" if I was doing longer distance in real world driving.

Hi guys, thanks for all the help the "fuelly" web site is really useful,  looking on there at the two members profiles i see that you do get better MPG then me, but you do more moterway milage then me too, but for the gtd it is really good, love both of the GTDs ,
