after an agonisingly long weekend i went to collect the car on sunday evening.

i drove there with a mix of nerves and excitement, totally unsure of what to expect.

pulled up and there it is. i think it looks awesome. far far better than i had imagined.

not show quality but good enough for a show car park. without doubt the best paint i've ever had ona daily anyway!

he also did more work than i expected and didnt charge any extra. all told, i'm really happy.

got it home and suddenly became very protective of it. we have quite a narrow drive and my mrs aint exactly careful so i got the hedge clippers out and hacked a foot out of the hedge!

problems are now rearing their heads though. firstly i didnt realise that the clip on the rear bumper mount is broken so the side of the bumper kicks out and looks rough.

secondly we cant get the arches to stick on. going to gave to use something a bit more industrial.

SO NEXT JOBS...

rack ends on the steering rack need replacing.

while the door cards are off i want to get the central locking working and stick some more sound deadening on the doors

trim needs attaching

bumpers and front indicators to fit

seals and anything black need to be made black

heater matrix is on its way out

may as well get a fresh mot too

possibly going to swap the exhaust for a magnex that i have

clean, polish and drive

phone is playing up so i cant upload a picture

thanks guys. never tempted to change colour. the whole ethos of this project was to keep it as stock as possible and let the wheels and the stance do the talking.  i think the jade green is a bit of a grandad colour and that works well with it being a 5 door. (stance needs work though - the 17's have really jacket the car up. will get a better idea of how it looks when the arch trims are back on but i am thinking of smaller wheels already)

colour change would also mean a total stripdown to a bare shell and a very expensive paint job. at least with this i can clean and tidy engine bay and door shuts etc.

i think standard colour is always the best choice.

I really like the colour mate.  The subtle GTI bits here and there will set it off nicely :afro:
