I know it will be an uphill battle if there is anything wrong which is why I will give the dealer the hair-blower treatment if anything goes wrong and they botch the repair job or cause other damage... I am planning on keeping the Anniversary for a long long time

Zeb - if you have bought your car from a VW dealership you have 30 days to swap it for another motor - use this as leverage to get it fixed properly.

BUT DON'T LET IT GET PAST 30 DAYS OR YOUR FECKED!!!!!!!

Sure thang Doc, but this dealership don't have anything else in their showroom yet, but I'll keep checking right up to the last 30th day. But to be honest I really don't want to go down the road, so I'm really hoping they can just fix my door.

My mate had another look today and noticed that the skin seems to have a little play right where it meets the rubber seal (not the top part of the glass the one at the bottom) so if you push this part of the skin in a bit (about 5mm) all is fine and in line and closes the gap, now I just need a clamp to hold it there!

I'm hoping they can push that bit back in place to close the gap and if there's a screw behind it that might be ok, or it could be a spot weld. Dunno really....

It should be an easy fix - If they can't do it then I can at GTi Int. show!

But you cant watch or you'd cry for a week

I think that the general fit and finish of VW's since late 90's has been pretty poor. TBH, the Focus seemed better screwed together than the Mk4.
The VW redeems itself with the quality of 'end' materials and styling. But the stuff you don't see, seem poor - especially around the fascia.

or in other words, furr coat and no knickers. It gets away with it coz its such a nice furr coat. Now I just have to summon courage to get a p/x on our A4 avant vs a GTi.

Are they allowed to drink beer during their lunch breaks at Wolfsburg... that might explain it.
