it'll be down to money. Too expensive to manufacture and would detract sales from the Audi TT

Our lass has just replaced her 93 convertible with a BMW 1 series convertible. A 123d. I managed to avoid the hideous fate that is the Golf convertible.

Anyway, my next car could certainly be a BMW if the experience with hers continues as well as it has so far. The dealer experience is in a different league to anything I've experienced at VW and the car is so much more solid than my Mk6 (and no, it's not brand new, it's 18 months old - not a creak, squeak or rattle anywhere). The engine is a peach (for a diesel) - 204 bhp and pulls like a train. So maybe a 135 for me. The new 135 by the way is priced at £29995 with 336 bhp on tap. The Mk7 GTi won't be far off that price with 100 bhp less so it then becomes a bit of a no brainer.

A long way in the future unfortunately though.

was just reading about that on evo

for the money that is a very good car. seems hard to justify a GTI for that kind of money when you compare to the 135i m sport.

shame its a pig to look at though

Agreed, how can a MK7 GTI cost the same as a 135!!! The world's gone mad.

On the BMW website they have the 5 door m135i at £27510, bargains at that price/ performance, they are ugly tho.

I agree they're not as pretty as a Golf GTi but having seen the new 1 series in the flesh in the showroom it's really not as bad as the last one. I think I could live with it, especially as they were talking sub 6second 0-60 times.

Can't deny that £/performance this is a great deal, however I would not buy one as I just don't like the look of it

Reguarding the price, they may have taken into consideration that the pound will be worth about 3 euro's in a months time
