I won't buy an Edition 35 now, as they are too much for what they are. I even looked at the invoice for our current mk6 and our last Edition 30, and that put me off even more.

For me unless the mk7 is something really special it will be something more affordable.

I still think high 20's / low 30's for a 2.0 Turbo hatch with sub 250bhp, and not a great deal of standard kit is a lot too pay, even if it does have a high regarded badge.

When the time comes to change your current and worn Mk6 cars, I bet nearly all of you will update and upgrade to a Mk7. Why buy another old and out-of-date model? Mark my words.

I will NEVER spend £30k+ on a Golf.......

A used R is likely the route I'll go down in 2012

I'd have another MK5 GTI DSG - I love those

The closer it gets the more I'm leaning towards a 123d for my next personal work skiff

123D is a cracking engine but you wont believe how much hard work they are until you go down a bumpy B road and strat bouncing all over the place.  This can be solved with non run flats though and with a map looking at 240+ bhp and mid 40's mpg.

I personally think the Alpina D3 is a cracker but a little expensive.

I know what you mean, mrs doc had a 120d msport on 18"'s and it was a little crazy but there are no crappy roads on my work route so it's all good there
