My next car is looking like a VW Amarok. Going to keep the GTD and use the Amarok as a plaything/carryall/winter car.

I had considered one of these as the practical car but availability was really bad six months ago. Know if it's still as bad?

Even longer lead times than a GTD at the moment. Order one today and you 'might' get it by next April'ish.
I went for a look at them the other day and was not that impressed. I kept mentally comparing it to the Discovery and it's no match, so will probably be ordering a new Disco4 in a few months.

Why would you compare a pickup (tool) to a Discovery (Horsebox puller)?

+1

You just can't compare a mini and a disco bus in any way shape or form can you?

Had a d4 not my cup of tea tbh the suspension in particular was not to my taste, although firmer than a d3 it became jittery and made me feel

I love my '09 MY D3 to bits as it has all the bits I love from the d3 plus colour coded bumpers, napa leather, napa heated wheel, elec steering column, grand black laquer trim, iphone friendly car kit, remote Fuel burning heater etc

Mainly 4wd and practicality with lower running costs, but found it a bit lacking. Both my D3's were good transport and hugely practical. I was looking for an alternative and the Amarok is not it.

Driven quite a few D4's and the interior is a step in the right direction and I think the firmer setup suits it better than the D3, as I found it boat like at times on the road, but you get used to it. And the new engine is far better than the 2.7 lump.

But all is up to individual taste and perspective.
