Just been looking at photos of other cars. Nothing excites me
So went back to golf sites and was looking through photos from track days etc and spotted a mk2 and thought i like that. Guess im just old fashioned.

The more I think about it i think my next car will be a used Golf R, I expect to change in about 18 months.

Press say tail end of 2012, GTI a few months later in 2013.

They are selling all they can make at the moment so a delay would not surprise me.

2013 Summer/Autumn launch for the Golf, 2014 for the GTI. (I hope).

I like your thinking Gilly, avoid the vw waiting list:)

And Snoopy, couldn't agree more about MK2 GTi's, trouble is they're either completely unloved or have the entire contents of a dodgy mods catalogue stuck on 'em! Still my favourite ex car thou:)

Your savings wouldn't involve Camelot plc by any chance?

No, you just like taking things apart and putting them back together again. There's not much point doing that to a new car so I guess you can have a good excuse to do it to an old one.

The good thing about a mk2 is the fact they were made properly in the first place. If you can find one that has not been crashed you have an excellent starting point for a restoration project. Stick a 2.0 8v in it and you're away; can't think of anything I'd rather drive on a daily basis than that.
