I've updated my firmware to 5269 and I know the SD card will support 32GB but what is the maximum size USB stick I can use ?
I tried a 128GB (optimistically) but that doesn't seem to work, 64GB ok ?
Thanks.

how do you update firmware? I have a old rns510 that came from factory in 2009, its very slow

I've got a 64GB in mine and it's fine. It's a 2012 model.

I had a 500Gb Western Digital quite happily running off an RNS510, you might want to update the MDI if its out of date. That helps with the USB.

Bugger I just sent a 128GB USB stick back do you think that would've worked with an MDI update ?
I'll try updating the MDI and test with some other USB drives I have.

It should work fine, need to ensure its formatted FAT32 too.

Ah thanks that's probably where I went wrong as well !

I'm struggling to find a drive/stick to work with the stereo via MDI cable.
I formatted this one with FAT32 and less than 1000 mp3's per folder but it gave a media error:

Can someone recommend a good size (128GB or larger) stick or drive that works ?
Thanks.

I would have thought that Toshiba would work. Unless of course is not getting enough power via the usb cable. If you have any shorter usb cables you could try them. The MDI might be out of date and need an update aswell.

This one worked for me formatted FAT32:
