Idle Problems
« on: 17 August 2004, 10:50 »
Hello Everyone,

just plugged a VAG-COM cable due to an idle problem, gave me the following code:

00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)
        16-00 - Signal Outside Specifications

has anyone come across this before? can change this myself easily? or is it a dealer job?

was a piece of cake on my mk4 20v gti, just 2 bolts, done in about 5 mins, i never had any idiling probs caused by this just lumpy power delivery and a massive 50mpg!! once changed power back to normal (ish) and petrol consumption back to normal 38 mpg ish.

if the error cant be reset then it is likely that the sensor is faulty, i had a spare one for mine.

good luck

hall sensor may be located on the cylinder head it measures the camshaft position!

on the old gtis it was built into the distributor!

Thanks,

I researched a little bit found out, it is on the Distributor, does not come seperatly, yes new distributo. Picked one off ebay for a fiver, solved the problem.

Now other problems have creeped in, non-stop.
