Weekly (I liked Friday lunch time) call to the dealer to get friendly and chase them for an update, always be positive with them, don't let them think your a bore and keep it short and sweet.

I spent a day ringing around dealers to find one that had a allocation slot. Then specced the car.

I spent a day ringing around dealers to find one that had a allocation slot.

It doesn't really work like that?

When I ordered mine and they said 3 months delivery I said I'll got to another dealer and get it quicker. They said no dealer has a faster allocation slot they all go inline and 3 months is the build time for a GTD. They said dealers are only allowed a certain number of car in that model and ours is 3 for the GTD. One is the demo car so we are only allowed to sell 2 each month. We have people ringing up from London to order GTD's because all the London dealers have used up their allocation.

I thought the idea is to sell as many cars as they can and not put people off so they goto another manufacturer for a quicker transaction?

4 months later it arrived.

Seem to have got lucky with my GTD, went to look at a demo car and was offered an unregistered car from the dealers group stock.
From first visiting the dealer to picking my car up - 8 days.
White, 5 door, with 18" charlestons, RCD510, F&R sensors, cruise, lux pack and winter pack, i even got a healthy discount and free 3 year servicing and discounted gap ins.
Very happy.
