I've had my car for a year and didn't even know that the boot floor could be lowered!

How does that work?   Just goes to show that I don't know what I'm doing.

Has two positions upper and lower
Just lift the floor cover that hides where the spare wheel is
Directly behind the back seat at both corners is the plastic mount it sits in with two positions to raise or lower the floor covering

Hi Sean,

Here is a pic of mine for reference, it's fitted in the lower position while the main shelf is in the upper position.

I know you've asked for something a bit different but maybe this will help.

It doesn't give a lot of extra space but it adds some storage above the space saver hole, mine is filled with the HK sub but you can still fit stuff around it but this extra shelf proves useful for me albeit not having huge clearance.

It's not a genuine VW however but the fit is spot on and it's good quality.

Thanks Sean.  I've adjusted mine to the lower position now. No idea if the extra inch of headroom will be useful but i can't see any disadvantages for me - might be useful to pack holiday suitcases!

Is the boot the same as the 7.5? I know it looked similar but didn’t try.

I had one of those raised edge liners for my 7.5 GTD, It used to fit prefect in the upper position and just crumple the edges slightly in the lower position.

If someone can confirm it’s the same size and shape, I’m in the process of clearing out the garage for my next car, presuming I’ve got it (my GTD was written off and I can’t recall if it was left in the boot or not) you’re welcome to have it for the price of the postage, alternatively, I’m in Leicestershire if you’re close by.

I’ll get in the garage this weekend, confirm it’s there and post a picture if so.

Cheers for the offer
It’s very close not exactly the same
I’ve taken a chance and ordered a semi rigid one from VW
So hopefully it’s fits
I’ve a weathertech one in my wife’s MK 7.5 and tried it in a MK8 it’s very close fitment wise perfectly
But she will be using that in her MK8 GTD when it arrives
The quality of these are superb but at £140 I’ll check the VW OEM one first
