Windscreen repair - deep scratch

My car has a deep scratch in the Windscreen, any ideas if there is anyway to repair? insurance dont wanna know because they dont replace scratched windscreens!!?? only cracked screens  :angry:

You sure it's not actualy a crack that gave way with the cold temps?  :wink:

You don't actually have to crack it btw whoever comes out from the glass company won't give a sh*t whether it's really damaged or not (from my own experience)

You can polish with cerium oxide - but it's not guaranteed. I've had some success. Same rule of thumb as paintwork; if you can feel it with your nail, it's too deep. If not, then it could polish out.
