Flood Impact on VW production
« on: 06 September 2023, 16:09 »
Slovenia flood impact update
Due to recent major floods in Slovenia, an engine component subcontractor is currently only able to supply parts in limited quantities. This applies specifically to a sub-component of dual-mass flywheel components for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
Efforts are underway to fully restore production at this plant, and Volkswagen Group is deploying specialist staff to support the clean-up efforts on-site.
With the help of our worldwide supplier network, the availability of components has so far been secured, and all departments of Volkswagen AG are working intensively to keep the possible effects to a minimum.

Impact on production
Throughout September, it can be expected that sites producing components and vehicles for Volkswagen Group will not have adequate supplies, so production losses are to be expected.
The plant in Palmela, Portugal, will suspend production of the T-Roc for three weeks in September. Production of the Passat variant, Arteon and Arteon Shooting Brake will continue in a single shift for the next two weeks.
The Wolfsburg plant will have an adjusted shift schedule in September, and some shifts will be cancelled.
We are not yet able to say whether other Volkswagen plants will be affected by the parts shortage.
As this is a highly dynamic situation, we ask for your understanding that we cannot be more specific at this stage. Please be assured all parties are working hard to optimise production and we will update you further as soon as we have more information.

Word of warning we get sent stock lists all the time from VW retailers and there is lots of cars still showing confirmed build week that should have been built 6+ weeks ago so this Slovenia flooding is going to f**k things up….
