DRL’s on my Ed40
« on: 14 May 2022, 07:07 »
Hello all, my headlights came with those silly dark covers, that promptly were removed.  I believe to keep that look the previous owner turned the DRL’s off in Auto function. If you turn the switch to sidelights, i get the DRL’s on.  I have been in the menu on the infotainment and turned them on there. I have been into the modding/coding menu on my Carly OBD device, where you can do all manner of things to your lights, to include turning them, the DRL’s on&off, but still i cannot get them on.       Would this be a deeper coding issue?   Does anybody close to me - North Essex - have the equipment?  Thanks for any advise.   Would rather not sit for hours at a dealer or specialist if i have to.

Check the headlight switch to see if one of the pins has been bent over or disconnected before delving into coding.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Unfortunately does not seem to be.  I did try to plug in the switch to my T6 Caravelle. Which did turn on both DRLs in ‘Auto’ mode, both are aftermarket upgrades, then realised they stayed on even with the switch disconnected!!    The Golf would go into the T6 but not visa versa.   May try and source a replacement?    I will keep my progress updated for those that have this issue and search after.

I've got the same headlights and DRLs in my 'Velle, as well as Lazer spot lights in the grille.

I mentioned the switch because we also have a 6R Polo. They use dipped headlights as DRLs and the only way to turn them off is to bend over pin 3 in the headlight switch, or de-pin the connector in the plug.
