VW Starting to delete spec ???
« on: 02 November 2021, 10:30 »
Hi all. I've secretly had a new Tiguan on order with Drive the Deal, as the discount was brilliant and was prepared to wait the 6 months or so for delivery.

The supplying dealer has been really upfront about everything, and I mailed him the other day to change my spec a little (as the car's not even been confirmed by VW yet despite being on order for a month). Well, I just had a mail from him this morning to say that VW had informed the dealers of changes to specs on cars from November onwards (I don't know if this is just for new orders from today onwards, or also for cars already on order but not yet confirmed for build - I'm waiting to find out which).

In any case this is the list he's just mailed me. OK it's for a Tiguan not a MK8 Golf but does make me wonder if VW will be doing the same across all models and the Golf is yet to come ?

This is the list of changes / deletions

There have already been some mk8 gti deletions it seems... Voice control and gesture control are gone from non navpro... I wonder what else... Someone I think also said about mats too.

Front an Rear mats don't have semi conductors in (or do they ) though, so is the semi conductor supply just a part of the issue and the whole parts supply chain is having issues which is slowing build times?

In the "all new digital Golf" they probably do...

I imagine this is as much to do with improving margin as supply chain.  Notice that base spec cars are getting more ... basic but price remains the same.  Sellers market at the moment.
