Always wash car with bucket an cloth but would like to start using foam to soften dirt. Could I use one of above to apply foam?

That would just come out as a spray with a bit of bubbling. You'd need one of these

I have an IK sprayer and it does a decent job of generating foam but requires a lot of pumping!
Much better to get a pressure washer.
