Title: Timing Chain Manufacturers

I have a 1.4tsi 160 that needs the timing chain replaced, the guy who is doing the work has quoted for a genuine VW chain but I have seen aftermarket chains available for a lot less. Hes told me he recommends the VW one but I'm welcome to supply the parts if I wish.

Clearly the labor cost and the risk of engine damage if failure occurs makes this a job that may not be worth taking a risk with low quality parts.

With this in mind are there any aftermarket brands for timing chains that can be trusted? FAI are around a third of the price but I have heard bad things about them.

You get a 2 year warranty on VW parts fitted correctly.
