mk2 is a bit too heavy for its power and left for dust by a similar vintage 205gti (when its not broken down!) they'd just got the golf right with the late mk1's before "improving" by piling on the pounds. nice move :-X


I think the Valve was out in 86 - the reason Pug gave us the 1.9.

The Valve mk 2 is the definitive GTI

THE MK3 the Definitive boat - at least the VR6 shifted (but life jackets weren't supplied)

Well said slim....  Did you know they did actually build for MK3 as an amphibious car but the gov said its not allowed on the water due to it being too wide and not giving enough room to oncoming boats....  Used to scare the rowers...  :-* ;)

Why do we not have as many threads on the MK1 section regarding problems with our cars, as the mk2 and 3 section? is it because you boys get so many problems with 'em?

its coz the mk2 is such a sweet car that everyone has them. Mk1 is umm an acquired taste
