mk2 is a bit too heavy for its power and left for dust by a similar vintage 205gti (when its not broken down!) they'd just got the golf right with the late mk1's before "improving" by piling on the pounds. nice move

I think the Valve was out in 86 - the reason Pug gave us the 1.9.

Well said slim....  Did you know they did actually build for MK3 as an amphibious car but the gov said its not allowed on the water due to it being too wide and not giving enough room to oncoming boats....  Used to scare the rowers...
