Zender spoiler fastening clips needed
« on: 31 December 2012, 19:59 »
Hi all first post, just bought a 1983 golf gti in green a month ago and have already started work, ie welding, water leaks engine work etc
Just received my zender spoiler I bought just before Christmas and there is no fastening clips or kit, anybody have any spare or know where I can get any as I don't really want to drill or bond onto boot,
Any help here or general advice is appreciated, thanks

I think it used to but I only have the boot part and not the sides, if I was to bond it any idea what would be my best option ?

This.

My first GTI was purchased in a similar position.  The sides were still fitted (screws were rotten though!) but the centrepiece was in the boot as the previous owner had recently changed the tailgate and not got round to fitting it..  Glad he hadn't to be honest, preferred to do it myself.  I wouldn't bond it personally, in case I lost it.

Because it wouldn't be strong enough to hold it ?
And if I screw it are they just self tappers or nut and bolts ?
Also is it just as simple as holding the spoiler into position and marking the holes ?

Yes, or some scummy g1t might rip it off

I'm sure it's just screws and yes you can just mark it out yourself.  Just make sure you protect the holes you make to prevent rust.

Yes if I drill them I will use antitrust followed by nylon or rubber washers on both sides to prevent water ingress, thanks guys
