Title: Advice please: V5 had an advisory (play in steering rack inner joint)
Post by: lozza07 on 27 May 2016, 21:14
Hello

Some advice please.

My 170bhp V5 had an advisory during the MOT a few weeks (play in steering rack inner joint).  I've also noticed that when I brake at low speeds I hear a knocking noise.

Car handles well at high speeds, and there are no problems with braking/tracking.  Just a knock when I apply brakes at low speeds.  Can any offer any suggestions what the problem could be please?

Cheers.

I wouldn`t worry about slight play in the steering rack. I had an advisory 2hrs ago, took it back same place and they never mentioned it on the next 2 Mot`s. Check all 4 brake callipers, you may have a loose one  :undecided:

Check for loose caliper. Had exactly that after a big suspension overhaul.
