Title: Glendale Alloys
Post by: Georgietto on 24 January 2015, 21:29
My 62 plate GTI 35 edition runs on 19" Glendales. They're really not liking our potholes and are looking pretty sad. My bigger concern is that they are corroding from under the paintwork on all four wheels, I.e. away from the rims, and not caused by kerbing/potholes. I raised this at its last service and the dealer said it would only happen if I've had them refurbished?? I haven't obviously and am preparing for an argument.
Has anyone else seen this?
Real shame as I love this car - without a doubt the best thing I've ever driven. Shame VW dealer is spoiling it at the moment.

Hi

Do you mean that they are corroding on the under the black paint on the spokes?  Any pics of the corrosion?

I also have Glendales on a 62 plate but no corrosion at all, not even on the edges which do have some kerb damage  :embarrassed:  though they do get well protected with sealant.  Not heard of anyone else with this issue either.

Much as I like them, they are a kerbing nightmare and as you say, Glendales and potholes are not a good combination

You must still be under warranty so I would push for replacement.
