Insurance Premiums for the 'youngens'
« on: 04 March 2012, 18:59 »
Without forgetting the 'young at heart' lot  I'm interested in knowing how much some of the ~25years pay for their modified Golfs and what companies you'd usually use?

I'm with Admiral at the minute and they're pretty piss poor. I've got a list of minor upgrades I want to do to my Golf at the minute (alloys, minor trim, tints, stereo etc) and a little worried about my premium spiking. I recently swapped my address with them and found my premium raised by £150 to a staggering £1,050 now (I'm 22)... It's only the 105 BHP Golf as well  It's not like it's a bloody GTI or even the 2.0 TDI...

It got me thinking, if I do make any 'significant' upgrades like a remap, how much I can expect it to rise? I know an insurer sponsors the forum - what do they consider as 'modifications'?

im 20 pay 1000 on my mk4.

im with admiral and when i declaed coilovers and alloys they only increased it about £30

as for what do they class as a modification, anything that isnt on the car when it rolls out of the factory.

Wow that isn't bad. What did you upgrade the size from/to?

That's promising. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they think. Will they just ask for size or some specifics? It's of course entirely hypothetical...

Wowza! That's pretty bad. I lived at top of St. Mary's Road mate, Brimley Hill Court. :) Had the pleasure of driving past a mk2 convertible each day at the bottom of the hill next to the free car park
