Mk2 VR6 - 19 Yr old - no chance?
« on: 12 August 2009, 12:49 »
Hey guys,
Yes its another can i get insured on this thread but i want to see if i am wasting my time if any one else has gone through the same proccess.

 Bit of back ground
My insurance is up for renewal come end of November. Im currently paying a tad over 2000 for it. Im happy to pay that as its the car i want to drive and i can afford to do so....just. That quote was given to me on a basis that i had one years driving and one years no claims.
I suspect if i stay with Admiral this will drop to around the 1300 as i am now 19 and would have two years no claims. happy days.

How ever. As much as i love my old 2.0 8V, i just want more power!!! i have been looking into doing the vr6 conversion. I am interested in the 20vt how ever the cost of conversion over rides that option just for now.

Basicly. Have you guys come across any specialist insurers that will insure your average law abiding (occasionally), full time employed 19 year old on some thing like a mk2 vr6? I dont mind the insurance creeping up a tad more over 2 grand if it means i can drive what i want legally. Or am I wasting my time.
On another note I have heard that the 1.8 T would be cheaper on the insurance over a VR6. Is there any truth in that?

I think the insurance companies would base the price on a mk3 vr6 itself. Its worth while gettin a quote on a vr6 just to get a guide.
Will obviously also depend on the other modifications to ur mk2 though
