The answer to your question is Coilovers can start from as little as £160 and go upto £1000 all depends on how much you want to spend.
Same with shocks and springs. What Mk is your Golf?

For £160 you will get a set of JOM coilovers... I can't comment on them as i'm using Apex. Some people say the JOM one's are a load of c*ap and others will say they are great for the money. Me personally would spend as much as i can on them as you don't want to end up hating the way the car feels.
