hi all, heres a quick quide on how to top up change ya gearbox oil in our 1.8t, not sure if any other boxes are the same tho!
vw say that u dont need to change or top up as there sealed units but when i did mine theres a big difference and well worth doing,
mines just hit 100000miles and when i droppped the oil is was really bad and low!
ok first the top up plug is to the right of the engine as u stand looking at it on the gearbox

jack up the car passenger side and take off the plastic sump guard etc from underneath, look to the front side of the gearbox and u should see this!

thats the top up plug!
u will need a socket like this 17mm to undo it,

if u want to completly change the oil, look to the back of the gearbox and u will find another plug the same, thats the drain plug!

please make sure if your draining the oil completly make sure u can undo the top up plug as they can sieze on!
always worth turning the front wheels aswell so all the oil gets out
i used gearbox oil from vw
make sure the car is level as much as pos, add the oil until it starts dripping out, DONT OVER FILL IT!!!!!!
any probs gis a shout and i'll help as much as pos, as i sad not sure on other gearboxes but they cant be that different!!!
ALL THE BEST
