letting my mk 2 gti go
« on: 24 October 2007, 11:57 »
Hi there,

Could I ask if you guys/esses could give me some idea on the sort of money I could expect to get for my Mk2.

I have decided to let my F plate mk2 gti 16v go.

It has no tax or mot, since the end of last month, but used every day up to then then.

It is not in great condition generally.

Needs a cv boot and has a small rust hole in the outer sill, generally scabby around the edges but every thing works okay.

Has a rusty tailgate which is quite bad.

Engne and box is good and has never let me down (ever).

Has power steering, electric windows and manual sunroof with alloy wheels.

Many thanks for your help

Steve.

For maximum profit you either need to get it MOT'd or break it for parts. No MOT means it will need to be taken off on a trailer and that limits your customer base right down.

As is I would say £200 max, with 12months test then maybe £500. DIfficult to tell without pictures but it does have some of the sought after options.

I would of thought £150 without mot and maybe £350-£400 with an mot but i think you will probably struggle to sell it (mot'd) unless you make the prices attractive as lets face it clean cars arent hard to find and if you avoid the mags and forums can be had pretty cheaply
