Title: Vag-Com (eBay) cable
Post by: Ady TDI on 24 June 2013, 13:39

So as I am having a couple probs with the car, and I cant afford the real deal at the mo, I thought I would get this cable from ebay :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290930019045?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

After having trouble with the com port, I managed to get that working, I can scan the engine fine and for some reason it says no faults (my mate scanned with his snap on scanner and showed an EGR fault) my cable will also scan the radio, and instrument, but anything else I try and scan I get an "No response from controller" message

Anyone had this and know a fix ?

Sorry, it may just be me...do you mean there is no communication at all when you try to select different ports in the test screen on vagcom?

I am able to check engine, HVAC and instruments, when I try to scan anything else being engine II, III, electrics, I get the communication failed message

Probably because those modules aren't installed in your car

You can only communicate with stuff thats actually fitted

Dont forget VAGCOM is used across the VAG group and therefore other cars have more or less modules fitted

Doubtful with an Ebay lead......try them all and see what you can connect to

Genuine lead will only list whats fitted to the car  :nerd:
