Not my new arrival, but someones....
Just drove past Marshalls VW in Scunhorpe, they have a pre-pdi, black 3dr GTD with leather. Very nice whose ever that is. Wheels look decent.
Was informed that GTD orders made today are due for delivery in December.

Was in Germany last week and saw a GTD fully loaded at the Burscheid dealer with a price tag of euro 44,899!

If the above is true it can't be hard for them to make the tyre type an option on request.  Obviously they couldn't make it an option other than by special request or that would mess with the numbers they agreed with the manufacturers.  I guess they can't be bothered though!

I'm kinda with VW with this one. What next, specify the exact sheep that the wool came off for your carpet mats? Honestly, I would say 99.99% of people could not give 2 fiddlers what tyres are fitted to the car. Ask an average person on the street what brand of tyre is on their  car and they wouldn't know or care!

As long as the aren't fitting cheap ditch finders to the car, and lets face it they aren't, well then, does it really matter?

You make a good point.  There are a few chaps on here quiet keen to avoid certain brands of tyres who would probably like the choice, but like you say they have to draw the line somewhere.

I was kind of hoping they wouldn't as it's not like that in the current brochure but looking at it i don't mind either way.
