Am I screwed ???

Im 19 just ordered myself a brand new mk6 gti in white 2 years no claims im struggling for insurance any ideas ? all the companies are saying 21 years old but when i get my friend to do a quote although he is 20 he has 9 points on his licence yet gets a quote for 2.5k ???

You are going to struggle massively to get insurance on £22k group 17 car at 19.

You ordered the car without even looking for insurance? :shocked:

It'll be almost like doubling the first years worth of depreciation.  There are no winners here other than the dealer and the insurers, just doesn't make financial sense to me.

Yeah i am having enough trouble with the main stream insurers at 27 with 1 years no claims bonus and 6 points. Im over £900 and living in the middle of no where !!!! The only thing i am going to hit is a sheep and its gonna be alot worse off than the car!!!

When i was younger Adrian Flux quoted me so i would give them a try. Some insurance company i am sure will take a gamble with you that you wont make a calim and make a neat sum! Hey, the bankers were all up for gambling risks with mortgages so i am sure the insurance companies will still do it! Mind you that does not quite have such a happy ending!

I don't think you will get insurance for it to be honest, not against you anyway. Like you say most will be for 21 an over and some for over 25. The excess will be massive too if you do get it covered let alone the premium.

When I was 19 I was driving a brand new 1.1 Rover Metro due to insurance being a no no on anything remotely sporty!
