Touch up spray
« on: 09 August 2004, 15:31 »
Like a complete tw@t, I decided to rid all rust on me car. Ok that was fine, bodged up all looking good, However I have tried many different spray paints and after perfect priming I knack it up with the black paint. It just doesn't match the rest of the car, Any ideas what cost it would be to get the back quarters resprayed or am i going to have to get the full car done to match??

A good sprayer should be able to do the lot for a couple of hundred, with a good match.
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

There are many different variations of paints including types of black. Depends what paint your using if your using the stuff out of a can in halfords then it won't work, whatever they say this kind of spraying is only for small areas. You need to apply a decent coat of lacquer in order to bring depth to the colour, if you just spray it it wont match at all.

Ideally if your doing it your self you should get the paint mixed at a proper car paint specialist and apply it using a compressor spray cans contain hardly enough paint to build up a good strong layer.

?200 tops for the back quarters.

i had my rear left quater done by a top specialist. The paint came out slightly darker and nothing could be done about it. although no one else could spot it..........I f**kIN COULD >:(

Respray would be better off but as its black you might just be lucky.

a colour change respray is expensive to do properly, sure you can just spray the outside but everytime you open the door of lift the bonnet you'll be reminded it wasn't done properly. worth considering  ;)
