Title: Advice on Buying Mk1 GTi?
Post by: JonnyT on 01 June 2003, 05:30
Hi all, :)
I'm just going thru the process of selling my Scooby ?:'( and am gonna get a mk1 GTi.
I had a mk2 8v GTi before the scoob, and have always wanted a mk1, so I've decided (Or rather the pregnant girlfriend has decided) this is the time to do it! ?:)
So basically...is there anything specific on the mk1 to look out for?? Places prone to corrosion etc.
Many Thanks,
Jon

This will help:-

I got this information from:-
http://www.campaignregister.co.uk/index2.htm

The only thing that I would add is have a good look at where the rear subframe bolts onto the chassis. This area is very prone to rust and is difficult to fix. BTDT
