SOS Fault
« on: 21 September 2021, 13:51 »
So this has probably been covered/mentioned somewhere but here goes. I’ve had the sos fault show up 6+ times but today it happened again so I pushed the sos/emergency button in the overhead area and 15 seconds later the fault lights disappeared and everything was ok again. All I had to do was to cancel the sos call. No problems since.

When it happens (I've had it a few times...) you get the "click click" noise and the ping warning and the message...

Its basically rebooting at the point, it comes back after maybe 90 seconds.

I had the same click click then re-boot then I got the full fault 'contact workshop'.

I booked it in and had an OCU recall update a few weeks ago and not had any issues with it since.

Book it in. I took mine in to have the creaky suspension issue looked at and they also did a software update that was listed as a recall on the job sheet and it was for the SOS bug.

For reference, they apparently just used some different grease that had been recommended by VW for the suspension issue and it seems to have done the trick.

I have also had no pops or issues from the Infotainment but I did notice that there was no change in the Infotainment version. Still at 1866, which I'm fine with, as I was concerned that new bugs may be introduced, having not had many of the issues I've read about others having. So the fix must have been a specific module software update and not a full firmware update.

The day after collecting the car, I had an oil top-up warning appear. As far as I know there was no oil change or anything similar, so it could be a simple coincidence. I've ordered some of the Shell stuff that Mr Chapple got for his oil change video and will top it up when it arrives.

"1886" is just the software version of the infotainment. There are possibly thirty something other controllers.. All have software that can be updated...

Wait, when was 1866 released? In my R-Line I was on 1788 and asked to be upgraded to 1803 and was told no as VW had stopped rollout as it didn't actually improve anything

Apparently 1804 is the latest according to someone on Facebook GTI group

Thank you, (touch wood) so far so good in the GTI - only issue I have had is the overtaking one which I can deal with

That's what I said....just in less educated words than you did, Fred.  Not everyone is a walking Haynes manual like you!   It was 01:30, I guess.

I meant 1666, sorry!  Again, 01:30 following a 14 hour shift.

I should say that, aside from the creaky suspension at low speeds and some teething problems with setting myself as Primary User back in March, I feel I have been quite lucky during my 7 months of ownership and have not had anywhere close to the issues that some have.
